How To Bet On The US Open

The last time the US Open was hosted at Torrey Pines we saw one of the most famous golf majors of all time and that putt from Tiger Woods. Woods made birdie on the final hole to force a playoff with Rocco Mediate and ultimately went on to win his 14th major championship.

The 2021 US Open has a lot to live up to! There’s reason to think that this year’s event could be a classic too with so many of the top players in the world in form and ready to battle it out at a seriously testing golf course. The rough will be thick and the course playing long which no doubt will suit the ‘bombers’, but touch around the greens and putting is always crucial at any major championship venue.

Looking at the US Open odds market now, you’ll see the betting favorite Jon Rahm sat at odds of +1000, with just three other players priced at under +2000 (20/1). The US Open betting is wide open and we’ve got the perfect guide for you here to tell you everything you need to know about the 2021 US Open odds and betting markets.

How To Bet On Golf: Different Types Of Golf Bets

The most popular sort of golf bet is the winner bet, or the outright. This is essentially wagering on one player in the US Open odds market to win the event. This is really easy to understand, for example, if you think Jon Rahm (the US Open odds favorite) will win the US Open, you would wager $100 on Rahm at odds of +1000, and if he won you’d win $1100.

You can get the best US Open odds from each sportsbook in the United States on our odds grid here, we showcase each sportsbooks odds for each player, so you can get the best odds. For example, DraftKings Sportsbook have odds of +1000 for Jon Rahm winning, but Resorts have odds of +900.

What is each-way betting in golf?

Each-way betting is more common in UK betting, but is slowly making its way over to the United States. With each-way betting you aren’t just betting on a golfer to win, you are betting them to finish in the top 5. So you get paid as a winner if they win the US Open, and also if they place in the top 5 on the leaderboard.

Each-way betting in golf is easier to understand using an example, let’s use Dustin Johnson in the US Open odds market.

If you wagered $10 each-way on Will Zalatoris to win the US Open, it would cost you $20, as $10 would be on Will Zalatoris to win the US Open, and $10 would be for him to finish in the top 5.

So if Zalatoris won the event at odds of +4500, you would win $582.50, but if Zalatoris finished 2nd-5th you would still win $122.50. So you get rewarded for a good US Open prediction that just missed out.

If Zalatoris finished outside the top five, then you would lose your $20 stake.

The sportsbooks offering each-way betting include FOX Bet, Bet365, Unibet and 888sport. Click on one of the links above to find out more about the sports betting site, and the new customer promotions they are running
