2 MinutesKansas State Governor Signs Sports Betting Bill
Laura Kelly, the Governor of Kansas, finally made sports betting legal in the state of Kansas. She signed Senate Bill 84 to close this deal, and this will allow there to be digital sportsbooks in Kansas. This move will not only help sports bettors in Kansas but will also help grow and keep Kansas’s money in their respective states.
One of the biggest goals for Laura Kelly and the state of Kansas was to pass this law before Missouri does. It now looks like their market will launch before the state of Missouri even legalizes sports betting. This is a huge win for Kansas and will drive them a ton of business.
Kansas will look to collect a 10% tax revenue on all sports betting revenue. They will use 80% of these funds and set them aside to hopefully bring a sports team to Kansas. Contrary to what a lot of people are probably thinking, the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals are in Kansas City, Missouri.

How Many States is Sports Betting now Legal in?
This news now brings the number of states where sports betting is legal to a total of 35. Sooner rather than later, that number will continue to grow until almost every single state in the US has a legalized form of sports betting.
When Will Sports Betting Officially Launch in Kansas?
Governor Kelly signed the bill on May 12th, but it will first become effective on July 1st. Kansas residents will have the opportunity to bet on whatever sport they want just in time for the fourth of July. I expect the amount of money being raised in Kansas to grow rapidly and this will help the state of Kansas as a whole.
