Welcome back to the daily hit parlay, brought to you by Calling Our Shot. Yesterday, we bounced back and secured a winner...but with an asterisk as one player (Corey Seager) decided not to play. While it didn't feel like a true victory, we still made money which at the end of the day is our No. 1 goal. Let's hope both these two guys play today!
WEDNESDAY'S HIT PARLAY
LEG 1: AUSTIN RILEY (ATL) TO RECORD A HIT
Our first leg of this hit parlay: Austin Riley. Riley is back at home facing the Mets. First and foremost, Riley has a great first name (my name is Austin too). I could honestly end the analysis there and be good with it, but we really like the matchup against Jose Quintana.
For starters, Quintana is a lefty, so we have the right on left matchup you want to target. Last year, Quintana allowed a .268 batting average to right handed batters, perfect for us. Riley has seen Quintana before, going 2 for 9 (.222). That's not ideal, but he at least has familiarity with the pitches he will see.
Austin Riley is always a player we like to back at home, where he is today (not at his actual home, but that would be cool, instead he's at Truist Park...where the Braves play). Last year, Riley hit .296 at home. This year, he's up to .333 at home. Riley will deliver.
LEG 2: YORDAN ALVAREZ (HOU) TO RECORD A HIT
Our second leg of this hit parlay: Yordan Alvarez. Alvarez and the Astros are once again on the road in Kansas City. Yordan is scorching hot right now with a hit in six out of his last seven games. Yordan is coming off a game yesterday in which he had four hits at the plate.
Today, Yordan faces the veteran Seth Lugo. Against Lugo, Alvarez is 2-2 batting 1.000. On the season, Alvarez has a scorching .347 batting average. Alvarez bats in a lineup where you can’t afford to pitch around him. Yordan is a beast we fully expect him to get a hit for us today. He's seeing the ball very well, we will roll with him.
