Minnesota Twins vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction: Should You Fade Triston McKenzie, Guardians?

On Friday night, two AL Central rivals face-off on Apple TV+ for the first game of a new series. The Twins will be thankful for a fresh start after getting swept by the Yankees at home this week. The Guardians, on the other hand, are feeling great at the top of the standings after a series win in Texas. Will the Twins catch the first-place Guardians sleeping in the first game of this series?

Minnesota Twins vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction

Simeon Woods Richardson has pitched great for the Twins so far this season, but he’s coming off his worst start of the year. He gave up five runs against the Blue Jays, allowing eight hits. He should fare much better against the Guardians on Friday night, as they are coming off getting shut-out by the Rangers in the last game of that series. He’s not going to have to throw a shutout against the Guardians to earn a win tonight, either…

Ever since they changed some of the outfield stands at the Guardians stadium, there have been way more home runs in their home games. The wind is carrying balls hit in the right-field gap, and the Twins have plenty of lefties to take advantage of it. They have their best lineup available for tonight’s contest against their division rival.

I like the Twins chances to bounce back in a hitters-friendly environment against a pitcher who’s prone to give up the long ball. Triston McKenzie has been solid this season, but his one weakness is giving up the home run ball. If some of the Twins hitters are able to launch a ball into the right-field gap, don’t be surprised if a couple of those pitches get launches into the seats on Friday night. After getting swept at home in their last series, I’m fully expecting a highly-motivated Twins team to show up against the first-place Guardians. Back them on the moneyline at plus money before they move to a favorite…
