The Royals have been one of the most pleasant surprises of the 2024 MLB season. Much like Dylan Cease, though, they haven’t looked as sharp in their last couple of games. Kansas City has lost four of their previous five games, a cold streak that might continue if Cease can figure it out on the bump…
I’m willing to bet Dylan Cease bounces back after three consecutive poor outings. Let’s not forget how sharp he looked in those first seven starts of the season. With how poorly the Royals have hit the ball in recent games, I wouldn’t be surprised if he throws a gem on the road tonight in Kansas City. I at least think he out-pitches Michael Wacha, who’s been extremely inconsistent this season.
Kansas City has been one of the most profitable teams in MLB this season. They have treated bettors very well, and have been priced at plus-money for the majority of games. Tonight, they are once again plus-money on the moneyline, and the public is hammering them. Fade the public and back the Padres to do what they’ve been doing all season, rely on their solid pitching and win games that nobody expects them to.
Just because the Padres don’t have Juan Soto anymore doesn’t mean they don’t have the talent to be competitive. Fade the Royals in the middle of their hitting slump, and back Cease to bounce-back with a masterclass on the mound. I’ll meet you at the cash counter after his complete-game shutout.
