The Texas Rangers travel to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers on Tuesday night and one player that I really like and will be targeting is Marcus Semien. James Paxton is on the mound for the Dodgers, and he has struggled as of late. He has allowed five or more runs in two of his last three starts and the platoon matchup is very favorable for Semien.

Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction
Marcus Semien has absolutely crushed left-handed pitching this season. He is hitting .350 with a .250 ISO and has four home runs in 87 plate appearances. He has 11 home runs total on the season but if all of his games had been played in Dodger Stadium that number would increase to 16 (tied for most of any park), which is a massive increase. The stadium is definitely hitter friendly, so it makes a lot of sense, but to me that is a huge edge, especially since we are getting odds of +625.
Paxton likely won't go very deep into this game, but the Dodgers bullpen has still been allowing plenty of dingers, ranking seventh in total bullpen homeruns allowed with 28. Paxton's metrics are also not that impressive as he ranks below the 10th percentile in both whiff percentage and walk percentage this season.
Although Paxton and Semien have not matched up in a few seasons, they do have some history. Semien has hit two home runs off Paxton in his last five games, so he has definitely had some success there. I also like the angle that Semien gets five or more plate appearances here.
With him hitting leadoff and it being a road game, the Rangers are guaranteed to hit in the ninth inning which could result in an extra at-bat for Semien. With all these factors working in our favor, I think we are getting a great price for the Rangers leadoff hitter to go yard tonight in LA.
