Wilson has been a solid piece for Milwaukee’s pitching staff but his advanced metrics are underwhelming. On the season, Wilson ranks in the bottom 22nd percentile in expected ERA (4.64), the bottom 26th percentile in expected batting average (.261), he’s struggled getting soft contact, and generating strikeouts.
The Brewers typically look to get five innings from him when he starts often using an opener in front of him. For his matchup against the Padres tonight, his pitching outs line is currently set at 15.5 and I’ll be looking to take the under. This is a number he is under in six out of his eight starts.
In the two games he went over this line, he pitched extremely well which is why the Brewers allowed him to pitch into the sixth inning. Tonight, I don’t expect that to be the case as he faces off against a Padres lineup that has hit right-handed pitchers well this season.
