The Cardinals and Giants will kick off a three game series tonight with the series opener being played in the first MLB modern era game at Rickwood Field. Rickwood Field is the oldest ballpark in the country, being built in 1910, and has not had a single team in the modern MLB play there before. Tonight will be historic, so of course we have a bet on this game.

San Francisco Giants vs. St. Louis Cardinals Prop Pick
The player I am betting on tonight is Giants hitter Matt Chapman. Matt Chapman will be going up against Cardinals pitcher Andre Pallante tonight. Pallante has a 4.16 ERA and 2–3 record this season. While he has only given up two home runs, he has struggled with his command, giving up 12 walks in 27 innings.
Where Pallante has really struggled this season is surprisingly against right handed hitters. Usually, right handed pitchers do better against right handed batters, but Pallante is allowing a .396 batting average to right handed hitters and just a .197 batting average to left-handed batters. Matt Chapman is 2–3 off Pallante and I think he has a good chance to hit an extra base hit tonight given the ballpark dimensions. Rickwood Field has unique dimensions in that it has a tall wall in right center field and a very deep gap in left field. Because of this, it will make getting extra base hits even easier for hitters even though we may see less home runs. Tonight we should see a lot of doubles and even maybe a few triples. I’m backing Matt Chapman to go over 1.5 bases expecting him to hit this with one hit deep in a ballpark or maybe even two singles. Either way, he has a good matchup against Pallante.
