Well, tonight we have a special one on the diamond as the San Francisco Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals are set to clash at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama. Rickwood Field is the home of Willie Mays, he grew up just six miles away and it was one of the fields where one of the greatest players to ever touch the field began his career. Mays is a member of the 3,000 hit club with 660 bombs and .301 career batting average. It is only fitting that just a week after the Hall of Famer passed away, they will be playing a game on his home field.

Just like the Field of Dreams games, the guys love these opportunities. Playing in a different setting in a special game like this really gets the juices flowing and sometimes, a game under the lights on a small field means more.
The dream was always to make it to the bigs for these guys and they have done it, they play in front of tens of thousands of fans every night, but it didn't start like that. Sometimes, an opportunity to play in a setting like this means even more to these guys and it takes them back to where they fell in love with the game, just a field under the lights.
I like this spot for the birds. St. Louis is coming off of back-to-back losses to the Marlins in a disappointing series but they get a San Francisco team who had to travel further and is starting Keaton Winn.
Winn is 3-7 with a 6.67 ERA on the season and a 13.02 ERA across his last five starts. He has gotten shelled lately and a hungry Cardinals team should be looking to get after him considering the divisional race at hand.
The Birds blew an opportunity against a non divisional opponent and one of the only non competitive teams in there league. They can easily drop out of second place in the division, gotta get one back here tonight.
