Mookie Betts Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI (-140) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best Dodgers vs. Braves odds
The sickness Mookie Betts dealt with during the Japan series has taken a heavy toll on the 32-year-old. His season has started exceptionally slow and the power has been minimal. But there’s reason to believe that Betts is turning the corner here.
Betts has more than doubled his RBI count in the last four games alone (8) and has a hit in six of his last 17 at-bats. He has started to hit the ball harder, too. In his last five at-bats, three have registered at 101.5 mph or higher.
I expect the success to continue on Friday night in a plus matchup for the righty against Grant Holmes.
Holmes has really struggled since joining the Atlanta rotation this season. His control has taken a nosedive and he’s being barreled at a 12.3% rate, ranking in the 16th percentile of all pitchers. There’s few positives to take away from his game of late and enters fresh off a three home run performance against Arizona a week ago.
Despite being a righty, Holmes actually has reverse splits. Left-handed hitters are batting just .137 against Holmes with only one extra base hit (.419 OPS). Right-handed hitters have fared significantly better – a .234 average and a .932 OPS, with five of 11 hits going for home runs. Last season, all seven home runs he allowed came against righties, too.
All this to say that I am buying Betts’ recent success to continue on Friday night. He gets the added benefit of hitting behind Shohei Ohtani and being toward the top of one of the elite offenses in baseball. Expect Holmes to struggle once again here as Betts clears this 1.5 number.
Bobby Witt Jr to hit a Home Run (+400) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best Royals vs. Orioles
Let’s call a spade a spade here. Dean Kremer is not good at baseball.
Prior to this season, the right-hander continually benefitted from batted ball luck. His xERA has sat in the 4.4 or worse every season Kremer has pitched in and 2025 has been no different. In fact, he’s somehow gotten worse.
Kremer’s strikeout rate has dipped below 15%, a career worst. He is being barreled at a 12.6% rate, flirting with continual danger as a fly-ball pitcher. His xBA (.299) and xSLG (.547) are major red flags and he’s a home run machine.
That brings me to Bobby Witt Jr., on a number that I believe is a tad too high. The power has not been there as often for Witt this season, with just three home runs, but I believe it’s only a matter of time before he finds his stride. Facing a bad, home-run heavy pitcher might just do the trick.
It’s not like Witt is struggling by any means. His xBA (.314) ranks in the top 5% of all hitters. His barrel rate is still around league average (8.8%), but it’s down for a player of his caliber - last season it sat at 14.3%.
Of his last six batted balls, three have come in at 100 mph or higher. Playing in a pitcher-friendly park like Kansas City has hurt Witt often – deep fly outs are aplenty – but now we get Baltimore in a plus weather environment.
Per RotoGrinders’ WeatherEdge data, there is a +24.4% home run expectancy based on a 121-game example. It should be in the mid-80s around game time with wind blowing slightly out to dead center.
This is culminating in the perfect storm for Witt to find the bleachers in back-to-back games. I’m going to continue to fade Kremer every chance I get, especially when the weather is perfect for home runs.
