Matthew Liberatore Over 4.5 strikeouts (+102)

Liberatore has been one of the biggest surprises this season. The Cardinals left-hander entered the season with a career 4.99 ERA. Through 59.1 innings, Liberatore has a 2.73 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 21.5% strikeout rate and 3.4% walk rate. He’s throwing a first-pitch strike 67.1% of the time. He’s attacking the zone and limiting the walks allowing him to throw at least six innings in eight of 10 starts.

Liberatore hasn’t had many favorable matchups for strikeouts recently and recorded five strikeouts once in his last three starts. The last time he had a team rank in the top five of strikeouts against left-handers was Pittsburgh and he had eight strikeouts over seven innings. Liberatore went seven innings in his last start and since he tends to go deep into games, he doesn’t need to pile up strikeouts to get five.

The matchup is great. The Rangers have a 27.5% strikeout rate against lefties, which is the third-worst in the majors. The Rangers have a 26.1% strikeout rate the last 14 days and an OPS of .510 the last 30 days against lefties, which is the worst in baseball. They scored three runs in a three-game series against Toronto this week and scored 22 runs in the last 10 games, losing eight of them.

Matt Olson Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs (-120)

It was a slow start to the season for Olson with only four home runs in his first 107 at-bats, but he’s been better in May with five doubles, eight home runs, 14 RBIs and an .829 OPS in 99 at-bats.

Olson has gone over this line in eight of the last 11 games, including both games of a doubleheader on Thursday. In that span, he is 15-for-47 (.319) with nine runs, five home runs, eight RBIs and a 58.8% hard hit rate.

Olson has great numbers against Lucas Giolito, who gets the start for Boston. Olson is 7-for-13 with four home runs and seven RBIs against Giolito, who has a 1.8 HR/9 against lefties. Olson is in the 97th percentile of barrel rate and 96th percentile of hard hit rate.
