Toronto Tempo vs. Golden State Valkyries Prediction: Can Valkyries Pulverize Tempo Again in Tuesday's Rematch?

The Tempo and Valkyries meet for the second time in three nights, with local coverage available on KPIX+ in the Bay Area and KMAX in Sacramento. Golden State enters as an 11.5-point home favorite after improving to 20-9, while Toronto has fallen to 10-19.

Golden State dominated Sunday’s first game 96-79 and has now beaten Toronto in both meetings this season. The quick turnaround gives the Tempo an opportunity to adjust, but it also keeps them in San Francisco against a defense that has already exposed their limited scoring options.

Toronto Tempo vs. Golden State Valkyries Prediction

The Valkyries broke Sunday’s game open after Toronto had cut a 13-point deficit to one before halftime. Janelle Salaün finished with 24 points and four 3-pointers, Veronica Burton added 17 points and six assists and Tiffany Hayes supplied 15 points off the bench. Golden State finished with a franchise-record 26 assists and received eight points, 11 rebounds and five blocks from Kiah Stokes.

Toronto struggled to replace All-Star guard Marina Mabrey, who missed the first matchup with a neck injury. Newly acquired forward Aneesah Morrow was also unavailable after joining the Tempo at the trade deadline, leaving rookie Kiki Rice to carry a larger offensive role with 16 points. Both players could return Tuesday, but integrating Morrow immediately and relying on Mabrey at less than full strength would still create uncertainty against an established defensive system.

Golden State also won the first meeting in Toronto 83-75, giving the Valkyries victories by eight and 17 points in the season series. Salaün has been especially difficult for the Tempo to contain, scoring 50 combined points with nine made 3-pointers across those games. Toronto can attempt to run her off the perimeter, but that attention creates additional space for Burton, Gabby Williams and Golden State’s deep collection of secondary scorers.

The defensive gap remains the central matchup advantage. Golden State ranks first in the WNBA in opponent scoring and can apply pressure without depending on one individual stopper. Burton controls the point of attack, Williams disrupts multiple positions and Stokes protects the paint, forcing opponents to execute deep into the shot clock rather than finding comfortable early offense.

Toronto Tempo vs. Golden State Valkyries Best Bet

Laying 11.5 points requires another decisive result, but Sunday showed how quickly Golden State can separate once its defense begins producing transition opportunities. Toronto may offer more resistance if Mabrey and Morrow return, yet the Tempo still must solve a defense that has beaten them twice while also containing Salaün’s perimeter shooting. The Valkyries should control the second half and produce another double-digit home victory.
