UFC 288 Parlay: Check Out This 3-Leg +497 Parlay For UFC 288

The UFC hits the road this weekend and heads to Newark, New Jersey, where the promotion will put on the 288th numbered event in history. All roads lead to a Bantamweight Championship Title fight between former double-champ Henry Cejudo and current belt-holder Aljamain Sterling.

Below I dive into that bout along with the two preceding battles and group them together to create a +497 parlay.

UFC 288 Main Card Parlay

LEG 1: JESSICA ANDRADE MONEYLINE

Fourth-ranked Jessica Andrade will enter the cage for her third time already this calendar year, and she’ll be tasked with fighting sixth-ranked Xiaonan Yan in a main card affair. The oddsmakers see the Brazilian as a -190 betting favorite, while Yan comes back at +160 to get her hand raised.

I’m going to lay the juice with Andrade and lock her in to win this Women’s Strawweight bout. Andrade is far more battle-tested in her career, and I think her edge in experience will be the difference-maker. While Yan has squared off against the likes of Carla Esparza and Marina Rodriguez recently, she lost both of those fights pretty convincingly. Look for Andrade to use her grappling advantage and ultimately get her hand raised Saturday night.

LEG 2: BELAL MUHAMMAD MONEYLINE

A behemoth of a co-main event features fourth-ranked contender Belal Muhammad going toe-to-toe with fifth-ranked Gilbert Burns. Considering the Welterweight division is a logjam full of talented brawlers, the implications of this fight loom large. DraftKings Sportsbook currently lists Burns as a slight -125 moneyline favorite, while Muhhamad is +105 to pull off a short upset.

This will be the biggest test of Muhammad’s career; however, he’s proven time and time again that he can stand in the cage with the best of them. The Chicago native is riding an eight-fight win streak, and sandwiched in-between is a no-contest where current champion Leon Edwards landed an eye poke on Muhammad, and he was unable to continue the fight.

I’m locking in Belal “Remember the Name” Muhammad for the second leg of our parlay on Saturday. Burns is well-rounded in all aspects of the fight game, but I think Muhammad has a sizable edge in the grappling department. He boasts a 92% takedown defense rate, which should throw a wrench in Burns’ game plan if he’s unable to secure takedowns. Let’s ride with Muhammad to collect his ninth straight victory.

LEG 3: ALJAMAIN STERLING MONEYLINE

The masses were claiming that Aljamain Sterling’s title wasn’t well-deserved since he earned it from an illegal knee from Petr Yan, which resulted in a disqualification. The current champion went on to silence the haters by defending his title twice, first against Yan in April 2022 and then against TJ Dillashaw in October.

I’m all in on Sterling at this point. I have to admit, I still needed to see further evidence that the 33-year-old was legitimate, but after dominating Dillashaw six months ago, I’m convinced.

His next fight pits him against former double-champion Henry Cejudo. Cejudo’s coming off of a three-year layoff where he vacated the belt and went into retirement. While I agree with the oddsmakers that this will be an excellent fight, I believe Sterling has the edge.

He’s obviously been the more active of the fighters and now has some big wins to his resume. Finally, this will likely be a wrestling-heavy fight as both men are accomplished in that aspect. I love the fact that Sterling continues to hone his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu outside of his UFC competitions. The “Funk Master” recently won a BJJ competition in August 2022 and is currently a black belt under Matt Serra. At this point, I have to say Sterling is the better of the two fighters.
