Cory Sandhagen vs. Rob Font Prediction: Can Sandhagen Make a Statement at UFC Nashville?

As we get closer to this weekend's UFC Fight Night, all eyes are on the main event, where a high-stakes catchweight main event is set to go down. Bantamweight juggernauts Cory 'Sandman' Sandhagen and Rob Font will collide in a battle that promises to deliver, as neither is usually in a boring fight. With Sandhagen entering the octagon on a two-fight winning streak and Font stepping in as a late replacement, the stakes couldn't be higher. Sandhagen is a massive -355 favorite to win tomorrow night, but Rob Font can definitely pull off the upset here, and I would not be surprised.

Cory Sandhagen vs. Rob Font Prediction

Cory Sandhagen is on the verge of achieving his dream: becoming the UFC Bantamweight Champion. Sandhagen is one of the best pure strikers in any division and a perennial title contender, always on the verge of a title shot. He had his chance back in 2021 against Petr Yan, but he fell short on that night. Now, he is back on a two-fight win streak, and it feels like a win here puts him right back in the conversation for a title shot. Rob Font is the only thing that stands in his way.

Originally scheduled to face Umar Nurmagomedov, Sandhagen now finds himself up against Rob Font, known for his no-nonsense, efficient striking style. Font's jab is a potent weapon that can serve as a range finder or a powerful blow, as he demonstrated in his recent dominant victory over Adrian Yanez.

Sandhagen's strengths lie in his diverse striking and impeccable timing. He sets traps, draws opponents into predictable counters, and is constantly changing his style mid-fight to keep them off-balance. While primarily a striker, he has added a bit of wrestling to his arsenal, making him even more dangerous. His unpredictability and lateral movement will be key to creating angles of attack and keeping Font at bay.

On the other hand, Rob Font's heart and durability are unmatched. He's a boxer through and through, with a right hand that can do real damage. Font's willingness to press forward and maintain a high pace makes him an exciting fighter to watch. Still, it could be his vulnerability against power punchers that Sandhagen looks to exploit. It seems the popular pick amongst most this weekend is for Sandhagen to win by decision. I get it. Sandhagen does not usually display knockout power, and Font has never been knocked out in his career. It makes sense, but I'm going a different route. Despite Font having never been knocked out before, Sandhagen is +170 to win by decision and also +170 to win by knockout. That is telling to me, and I see Sandhagen finding Font's first KO loss.

As Font gets older, his chin will go no matter what. He may only be 36, but he has been in a lot of wars, and as a bantamweight, his chin will go even quicker than the big boys. Font took a different approach in his last fight, getting aggressive early, and if he does that against Sandhagen, it will likely be his undoing. Font is a tough guy to put away, but this is five rounds, and Sandhagen is one of the best strikers in the UFC and only 31. He is in his prime. Sandhagen by KO.
