Jack Hermansson vs. Joe Pyfer Prediction: Can Hermansson Ruin Pyfer's Perfect Record in UFC?

The UFC returns to the Apex Center tonight as Jack Hermansson and Joe Pyfer fight in the main event of UFC Fight Night 236. Jack Hermansson is looking to bounce back from a TKO loss to Roman Dolidze back in December 2022. He has not fought in over a year, and he comes back to fight the surging prospect Joe Pyfer. Joe Pyfer is a rising talent and gets his first spot in a main event in the UFC tonight. Pyfer is a sizable favorite in this fight as he is -255 to take care of Hermansson. Can he get it done?

Jack Hermansson vs. Joe Pyfer Prediction

Joe Pyfer is a perfect 3-0 in the UFC and has taken down Alen Amedovski, Gerald, Meerschaert, and Abdul Razak Alhassan. He has showcased a little bit of everything, as his right hand has tremendous knockout power, but he most recently got a submission win over Alhassan the last time he was in the octagon. Pyfer is quickly making his way towards the top as he fights the gatekeeper, Jack Hermansson, who will easily be the toughest fight of his career so far. Jack Hermansson is coming off a tough loss against Roman Dolidze last December. He has traded wins and losses back and forth over his time in the UFC, as he has lost to some of the best fighters in the division, but has also sandwiched wins between those losses. He is now essentially the gatekeeper in the division, as he hangs in the middle of the rankings, and is a stepping stone for up-and-coming fighters. Hermansson's style will be a difficult test for Pyfer. Hermansson has a very awkward striking style and is excellent at evading pressure. He has excellent movement on the outside of the pocket and can avoid power shots, which is exactly what Pyfer will be looking to do with his pressure and power in this fight. The key for Hermansson to win as the underdog will be evading the big shot from Pyfer and maintaining his distance while waiting to look for entries to take Pyfer down. Hermansson has excellent grappling and has excellent top control when he takes his opponents down and can get on top. We have not seen Pyfer go late into fights, as the longest we have seen him is midway through the second round so far. I believe if Hermansson can avoid Pyferr's power for the first two rounds, he will have a big edge in cardio and will be able to control the fight from there on out on the ground. This line is very wide on this fight, and I believe there’s lots of value on Hermansson in this spot. I’m also willing to take a stab at the submission in rounds 3, 4, or 5 as we are getting a high price of +1900 on FanDuel and I see this as a real possibility in this fight.
