Vikings vs. Giants Prediction

These teams have both been heavily criticized during the regular season for not being as good as their record indicates. Minnesota won 13 games this season, but they had a negative point differential. That is almost impossible, but they did it. Now, you can also argue that means that they are clutch in one-score games.

Nobody in the NFL was as good as Minnesota in one score game this season, and they are hopeful that trend continues today. The Giants, meanwhile, were not slated to be a playoff team in the preseason.

Brian Daboll took this team over and has done an outstanding job with them this year. He has made Daniel Jones look like a legit quarterback and has made some average skill position players look above average. It will be key for the Giants today to take care of the football and string together possessions. Minnesota is one of the best scoring offenses in football and if New York can limit Minnesota’s possessions and not turn over the football, they will have an opportunity to pull off the upset this afternoon. These two teams most recently played in Week 16 on Christmas Eve in a game that the Vikings won 27-24 on a game-winning field goal.

I am backing Minnesota in this spot on the moneyline. New York is becoming a public dog as we get closer to game time, and I think people are overthinking this game. Minnesota is probably not as good as their record indicates but neither are the Giants. Similar to Minnesota, New York won a lot of close games this year. Everyone wants to talk about Minnesota having a negative point differential, but the Giants were actually worse in that department. Lastly, this is a home game for Minnesota, and this is not an easy place to walk in and get a win. Minnesota was 8-1 on their home turf this year. I expect that to continue this afternoon.
