The New England Patriots face the New York Jets in Week 3. Can Sauce Gardner and the Jets finally defeat the Patriots on Sunday? Jason Radowitz breaks down the Patriots vs. Jets game and shares his pick.
ANALYSIS

Patriots vs. Jets Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Sauce Gardner, Jets Finally Defeat Patriots on Sunday?

It's been 14 games since the Jets defeated the Patriots in the NFL.

New York wanted to change its identity this season. However, Aaron Rodgers got hurt, and the defense was exposed in the season's first two weeks.

It's only Week 3. Nobody should panic just yet. But the Jets must look good on Sunday, or things will change. It'll start with quarterback Zach Wilson.

On the other hand, the Patriots have only won two of their last nine games. New England's life without Tom Brady hasn't been easy. Some believe Bill Belichick could retire if things don't start to work out for the team moving forward.

We've got an old-fashioned rivalry game on Sunday. It doesn't get any better than that.

Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Sunday's game between the New England Patriots vs. New York Jets.

New England Patriots vs. New York Jets Prediction

Neither team has really opened its eyes to begin the year.

The Patriots have started the season 0-2, with losses to the Eagles and Dolphins by one score. They've had their chances to score points and win games in the final drives. But nothing materialized in those moments.

The Patriots have added 355.5 yards per game on offense. However, the run game has only added 82 yards. KEading rusher Rhamondre Stevenson has added just 2.8 yards per carry on 27 attempts. The addition of Zeke Elliott hasn't worked out either.

Stevenson and Elliott are a great duo. But it's tough to run well when the offensive line struggles to block at the line of scrimmage.

Meanwhile, Mac Jones has a lot of weapons on offense in the receiver room. He's thrown for 547 yards and has had 96 attempts in the first two games.

The Patriots will play a lot of two tight-end sets and have plenty of wide receivers they're comfortable using. However, tight end Hunter Henry leads the team in receiving.

Unless you're the Chiefs, you probably don't want to see that.

On the other hand, the Jets will still stick it out with Zach Wilson at quarterback. Wilson struggled against the Cowboys last weekend, but most teams will.

New York needs to get back to its running game. Breece Hall was disappointed that he saw just four carries last weekend against the Cowboys in a 30-10 loss. The game got out of hand quickly when Wilson turned the ball over.

In two games, he's already got four interceptions. It's impossible to win when you throw that many interceptions per game.

On the other hand, the Jets struggled to adapt to Dallas' offense last weekend. New York still has a fantastic defense with a crazy good secondary. But they've got to make adjustments.

Luckily for the Jets, the Patriots don't have a CeeDee Lamb. They don't have a top receiver that Sauce Gardner needs to follow around.

That benefits the Jets' defense.

New England also doesn't have a great pass rush. Wilson takes a lot of time to throw the ball. But he'll make better decisions if he has time and isn't rushed.

Therefore, I'll back the Jets at home at +2.5.

The New York Jets will finally beat the Patriots.
