Miami Dolphins vs. Philadelphia Eagles Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Jalen Hurts, Eagles Dominate on SNF?

One of the best games on the Week 7 NFL slate will feature the Miami Dolphins on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football. The Eagles were unable to stay undefeated against the New York Jets in Week 6, as Jalen Hurts threw three interceptions, while the Jets' defense held Philadelphia's offense scoreless in the second half.

Miami is undoubtedly the most explosive offense in the league right now, leading the league in points (223) and drives ending in a score at a whopping 50 percent rate. The Dolphins' run game has been firing on all cylinders, currently relying on veteran speedster Raheem Mostert to operate with pace in head coach Mike McDaniel's scheme, resulting in 6.5 yards per rush attempt, also No. 1 in the league through six weeks.

Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is atop the NFL MVP odds alongside Patrick Mahomes, as he's been electrifying with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Mostert forming an elite core nucleus of explosive talent. Philadelphia's defense is tightening up though, ranking ninth in net yards per pass attempt (5.5), and eighth in rushing yards per attempt (3.6) this season. Philadelphia's defensive line is stout and extremely disruptive, which we saw affect Tagovailoa during the Dolphins' only loss of the season, ending 48-20 against the Bills.

NFL handicapper Matt MacKay is back to share his latest prediction and pick for this highly anticipated prime time matchup between the Miami Dolphins vs. Philadelphia Eagles.

Miami Dolphins vs. Philadelphia Eagles Prediction

Philadelphia's defense is fourth in pressure rate (29.1%), ninth in quarterback knock down percentage (10.7%), and fifth in hurry percentage (12.1%) this season. They also rank fifth in total sacks (20), so Miami's offensive line will have its biggest challenge of the season in a hostile road environment.

It doesn't help the Dolphins knowing that Terron Armstead, their starting, highly-paid left tackle, is out due to a knee injury, while other pieces of its offensive line unit are questionable. Miami has fallen behind early against the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers during the last two weeks, before easily surging back due to their elite, high-octane offense. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle will need to bring their A-game against the Eagles, who are more vulnerable against the pass than the run, although they've quickly improved, holding three of their past four opponents under 200 passing yards, which includes the pass-centric Rams offense.

Hurts and the Eagles' offense can manufacture big play explosives in multiple ways, similar to Miami. Wideout A.J. Brown has been red-hot after a slow start, while Hurts and running back D'Andre Swift form a solid tandem in the Eagles' backfield. Miami's defense ranks 14th in total yards per play (4.9) and 14th in nets yards per pass attempt (6.0) this season. Against the run, the Dolphins have been gouged, allowing seven rushing touchdowns and 4.1 YPC.

The Eagles have won five consecutive games at Lincoln Financial Field, while they now get a defense that ranks 19th or worse in against the pass, run, scoring, and turnovers generated. This feels like it's too easy, but let's wager three units on Philadelphia's -144 moneyline odds to win outright in a huge game against the top offense in the league, making a statement win in late October.
