New York Giants vs. Las Vegas Raiders Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can the Raiders Capitalize on Sudden Reshuffle?
New York Giants vs. Las Vegas Raiders Prediction, Pick, Odds:
Two franchises in disarray will meet in the Desert during the late afternoon slate in Week 9, as the New York Giants travel to Allegiant Stadium to take on the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders just finished cleaning house, firing head coach Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler, which could give Las Vegas a bit of a boost, or backfire tremendously. Either way, it'll be intriguing to watch their performance after being contained by Detroit in Week 8. Jimmy Garoppolo is reportedly getting benched for rookie Aidan O'Connell, who already has one start under his belt this season. Wideout Davante Adams' frustration could also turn into a monster outing against the Giants.
Daniel Jones' probable return from a multi-week neck injury is the lone bright spot for New York. The Giants wound up winning 14-7 against Washington in Week 7 before falling in overtime 13-10 to the Jets in Week 8. Saquon Barkley was the entire offense, which somehow looked even worse than earlier in the year without Jones as the signal-caller under center. Him and Barkley could generate some positive offense, which will now be without tight end Darren Waller for the next few weeks due to a hamstring injury.

New York Giants vs. Las Vegas Raiders Prediction
The Giants have been hit extremely hard by injuries this season, particularly on offense. It doesn't help that most of their offensive line is piecemealed together, while its wide receiving corps is also unproven, raw, and largely underwhelming. Waller's presence on the field allowed the Giants to stretch defenses out a bit, but now, with Jones and Barkley shouldering the load, expect a heavy dose of RPO against a Raiders run defense allowing 4.5 yards per attempt (6th) and 10 rushing touchdowns, fourth-highest in the league.
When it comes to the passing attack, both team's defenses fare well, with the Raiders ranking 14th and the Giants at 19th. We could see an increased dose of runs from both offenses, which chews clock, ultimately delivering a lower-scoring outcome. Both defenses struggle to force turnovers, each ranking bottom-11 in this metric, so long, sustained drives with a few explosive plays is the most likely outcome.
Factor in the Giants' porous offensive line trying to block Maxx Crosby, who has brought pressure all season off the edge, and it could be a long day for the Giants competing on the road against a Raiders team that is no longer constrained by McDaniels' play calling and game management decisions. To make matters worse, the Giants have failed to cover the spread in seven of their last nine games, while the home team has won each of Las Vegas' last five games played. The point total line, sitting at a paltry 37.5, has also gone under when the Giants are underdogs in eight consecutive games, while the Giants have lost four in a row on the road as underdogs.
It boils down to Daniel Jones vs. Aidan O'Connell. O'Connell has more weapons within the Raiders' offense compared to the Giants, who are also playing with one of the league's worst offensive line units. Barkley will make a few plays as he always does, but it won't be enough to knock off a rejuvenated Raiders team on the road. Let's take the Raiders' -126 moneyline odds in the post-McDaniels era against a Giants run defense that is somehow worse than the Raiders, surrendering 10 rushing touchdowns and 5.0 yards per attempt.
