Green Bay Packers vs. Carolina Panthers Prediction
The Packers are laying five against the Panthers this afternoon, and this game is in Carolina. It's practically been a friends and family event with tickets going for a dollar on the east coast right now. Let's be honest, the Panthers are just flat out struggling this season. Miles Sanders is underperforming with a bad offensive line, the offense is floundering, and Bryce Young is struggling with a lack of offensive weapons.
But, here's where this gets interesting, I will be putting my money on the Panthers for the second week in a row. The reason for this is because the Packers as favorites on the road is not convincing to me. With a horrible 1-6 record against the spread in their last seven on the road, they're not scaring anyone in the NFL.
It's also not just the stats, it's the performance. Joe Barry's defense has been nothing short of a headache. All those first-round picks and hefty paychecks, and what do you get? A defense that's gone backwards as the season progresses. Offensively, Jordan Love's first season as a starter has been a rollercoaster. Green Bay's got some fire power, but can they deliver against a Panthers defense that's been the silent assassin of the league?
This group hasn't stopped playing hard, despite their overall struggles as a team. They have the potential to dominate up front and put the game squarely on Love's shoulders. I see Green Bay winning, but barely escaping Carolina today. Let's not forget, the Packers are near the bottom in run defense in the NFL. I could see Chuba Hubbard having himself a game today, and the Panthers covering those five points. The Packers as favorites on the road? I'll take my chances.
