Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys Player Prop Pick: Will Dak Prescott Air it Out on Saturday Night?

The Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions meet on Saturday night for what should be an exciting matchup. Can Dak Prescott air it out? Ben Rajavuori provides his best player prop pick for the Lions vs. Dallas game.

Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys Player Prop Pick: Will Dak Prescott Air it Out on Saturday Night?

The Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions meet on "Monday" Night Football which will be played on Saturday this week because of the College Football Playoffs on Monday. The Lions clinched the NFC North last week, but the Cowboys are still in the thick of their divisional race with the Eagles. The Cowboys are not in a "must-win" spot for the postseason, but this is still a massive game for them with postseason implications. The Cowboys are 5.5-point favorites at home tomorrow, where they are 7-0 on the season. However, I'm not concerned with the spread in this one.

Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys Prediction

The line in this game that intrigues me is Dak Prescott's passing attempts. Dak Prescott has had an excellent, near-MVP-caliber season, and he has played damn near perfectly at home. The Cowboys faced some backlash earlier in the season for not playing high-level opponents at home, but they silenced critics by beating the Eagles and Seahawks at home in their last two home games. Dak had 39 and 41 passing attempts in those two games. His line for this game is 36.5 passing attempts.

The Cowboys have not been a very run-heavy offense this season, and part of that has to do with Tony Pollard struggling a bit. Pollard has gotten his average up to 4.0 yards per carry since Rico Dowdle has come into the mix, but Dowdle is injured for this game, meaning Pollard will be expected to be the "workhorse" back again, a role he did not do too well in to start the season. Pollard has averaged under four yards per carry in three of the last four games, and this will not be a good matchup for any ground game from the Cowboys. The Lions rank fourth in yards per carry allowed and fourth in opponent rush yards allowed per game. Therefore, this game will come down to Dak and the passing game.

Dak has been limiting his picks this year, as promised, and has looked excellent in the passing game. Dak is sixth in yards per pass and second in completion percentage, while also ranking second in pick percentage. Dallas will be much better off throwing in this game against a Lion's secondary that ranks 25th in opponent yards per pass and 23rd in passing yards allowed per game. The offense is healthy, and the Lions will have to deal with CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, and Jake Ferguson all game.

Opposing quarterbacks are 11-4 this season to the over on their passing attempts against the Lions. This is not surprising, given that they have a pass-funnel defense. The run game has not been the focal point of this Dallas offense, and this is expected to be a high-scoring game. This game has the highest total on the board in the NFL this week, and a shootout-style game will see Dak have at least 40+ pass attempts as he has done three times already this season.
