This Weekend's Best Bets: The Five Best Bets for the Weekend Ahead
The weekends just got a whole lot more thrilling!
We are headed to Week 2 of the College Football season, and Week 1 of the NFL season is about to start!
I've added five best bets for the football slate below.
Favorite 5 Weekend Picks
NFL: Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Packers +2.5 (-110) (Bet $110 to collect $210)
Friday, September 6, 8:15 PM ET
The Green Bay Packers are expected to be one of the best offenses in the NFL this season. Although they didn't add new pieces at wide receiver, the addition of Josh Jacobs at running back will help.
The run game won't be needed much in Week 1. The Packers will face an Eagles team that was poor in the secondary last year.
While Philadelphia added new secondary pieces from the NFL Draft, they'll still need to be patient with rookies Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.
Back the Packers at +2.5.
NCAAF: Texas Longhorns vs. Michigan Wolverines: Michigan +7.5 (-115) (Bet $115 to collect $215)
Saturday, September 7, 12:00 PM ET
The Texans Longhorns looked much better in Week 1 to the naked eye. But the reality is, Michigan's defense isn't getting enough love.
Michigan held Fresno State to .4 yards a carry and earned two interceptions against one of the best non-Power-4 teams in the nation.
While Davis Warren didn't look elite, as long as the offense can limit turnovers and run the ball somewhat effectively, the Wolverines could win this game. There's no reason Michigan should be a 7.5-point underdog at home against Texas.
NCAAF: Tennessee vs. North Carolina State: Tennessee -8.5 (-110) (Bet $110 to collect $210)
Saturday, September 7, 7:30 PM ET
The Tennessee Volunteers let Nico Iamaleava loose in Week 1 against Chattanooga. While, yes, Tennessee played Chattanooga, Iamaleava was so good he won SEC Freshman of the Week honors in a 69-3 victory.
On the other hand, North Carolina State needed a rally in the fourth quarter to defeat Western Carolina. Grayson McCall had some big moments, but there were also some questionable throws and decisions.
McCall has more pressure on his shoulders than he ever did at Coastal Carolina. That might not be such a good thing.
NFL: Tennessee Titans vs. Chicago Bears: Titans +3.5 (-115) (Bet $115 to collect $215)
Sunday, September 8, 1:00 PM ET
It's been all over Twitter and other articles. But the reality is rookie quarterbacks don't usually fare well in Week 1.
The Bears solidified their offense with a bunch of high-quality playmakers. Meanwhile, the defense looks really good on paper, too. But a couple of mistakes from Williams are all it takes for a collapse in Week 1.
There have been many reports out of camp that Will Levis has improved and is ready for the moment to lead the Titans' offense. I believe it.
NFL: Los Angeles Rams vs. Detroit Lions: Over 50.5 (-115) (Bet $115 to collect $215)
Sunday, September 8, 8:20 PM ET
The Rams and Lions last played in the playoffs. The first half yielded more than 30 points, but the two teams couldn't score a touchdown in the second half to help the Over.
That will likely change in Week 1 of the regular season. It's another battle between Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford, who were traded for one another a handful of years back.
Both offenses have a bunch of weapons and should be ready for the moment. Let's take the Over 50.5 here.
