Falcons vs. Commanders Prediction, Pick Against the Spread, Latest Odds for Sunday Night Football

The Washington Commanders will host the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football as they fight for NFC playoff seeding. Can Jayden Daniels and the Commanders keep it rolling at home and avoid the upset bid from Michael Penix Jr. and the Falcons? Matt McCuen provides his prediction and pick for Falcons vs. Commanders on SNF.

Falcons vs. Commanders Prediction, Pick Against the Spread, Latest Odds for Sunday Night Football

The Atlanta Falcons and the Washington Commanders will meet from our nation's capital on Sunday Night.

Atlanta comes into the game with a record of 8-7. The Falcons will need a win tonight to keep their playoff hopes alive. Atlanta is tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for first place in the NFC South.

After a hot start to the season, the Falcons struggled in the middle of it. The struggles called for a change at the quarterback position. Veteran Kirk Cousins was benched in favor of rookie Michael Penix Jr.

Penix Jr. was surprisingly drafted in the first round of the NFL draft. The former Washington signal-caller is off to a 2-0 start in his NFL career. Atlanta has won back-to-back times, including a 34-7 blowout win over the New York Giants last weekend.

Falcons vs. Commanders Prediction

Penix Jr. leads the offense with 240 passing yards, zero touchdown passes, and one interception. Bjian Robinson has rushed for 1,196 yards and 10 touchdowns. Drake London leads the Falcons with 978 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

Washington begins the game with a record of 10-5. That record has placed them in second place in the NFC East. Last weekend, the Commanders stormed back to upset the Philadelphia Eagles. Washington trailed for most of the game, but a touchdown with less than 10 seconds left was enough to steal the win.

The win keeps the Commanders divisional hopes alive but, more importantly, puts Washington in a wildcard position. The Commanders have exceeded expectations this year. With a win tonight, the Commanders will look up a wildcard berth.

Jayden Daniels will win Rookie of the Year honors. The former LSU signal-caller has thrown for 3,303 yards, 22 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Former Alabama standout Brian Robinson Jr. leads the ground game with 729 yards and eight touchdowns. Terry McLaurin leads the team with 1,029 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. Washington ranks 19th in points allowed per game (23.2).

Falcons vs. Commanders Pick

The Commanders have an opportunity to punch a playoff ticket tonight.

Playing at home, I expect a strong effort from Washington under the lights.

Tonight's game will come down to which quarterback can make more plays.

Daniels has been the best rookie in football this season and will deliver a big-time performance against this below-average Falcons defense.
