Defensively, Kansas City was elite in 2024, finishing 4th in points allowed and 9th in total defense. That side of the ball should control the game against a Chargers offense still adjusting after offseason changes.
Offensively, I expect the Chiefs to lean on Isiah Pacheco and a run game that ranked 4th in rushing success rate last season. The Chargers struggled to stop the run in 2024, and that matchup should tilt heavily toward Kansas City tonight.
And of course, there’s Patrick Mahomes. Big stage. International spotlight. Week 1 primetime. He always shows up when the lights are brightest, and I trust him far more than a Chargers team still looking to prove themselves in close games.
