The second game we are diving into tonight takes us to California for a late night showdown at the SAP Center. The New York Islanders (27-20-14) are heading to San Jose for a clash with the Sharks (15-39-7) and I think we see some solid action here.

The Sharks are really bad but they are still a professional hockey team with some level of pride - on home ice here amidst an eight game win streak, I expect some fight from them. I really think this one is just priced too low - San Jose is so bad on the back end that even with the influx in scoring they keep losing.
The Sharks have been scoring - seventeen goals across ten games for a team of this caliber is good hockey and they have 15 in their last four. They have played three straight solid games in one goal losses to Dallas, Minnesota and Dallas again last time out when they lost a 7-6 barn burner on home ice. They are at the point in the losing streak where they are going to keep fighting to get back in the win column, especially on home ice.
On the flip side, after a very back and forth, .500ish start for the Patrick Roy era in New York, the Isles have got something going. Mathew Barzal and Co. have won four straight and have scored 17 goals in their last four games. The over has hit in three of their last four and they roll into this one on the best momentum they have had under Patrick Roy. They cannot mess this up against an inferior team out of contention, you gotta take care of business. I love this total at this price.
