FC Cincinnati close Leagues Cup Phase One against Atlas on Tuesday, August 11, with kickoff scheduled for 8 PM ET from TQL Stadium. The match will air on Apple TV, Fox Sports 1 and UniMás.
Cincinnati is a heavy -210 regulation favorite, Atlas is +450 and the draw is +350. Cincinnati enters its third match with six points from two regulation victories and an opportunity to finish Phase One with a perfect nine-point return.
The -210 moneyline makes sense considering Cincinnati's start, but it offers limited value for a third Phase One match that should encourage Atlas to play far more aggressively than it did while falling behind in the standings.
Cincinnati has scored five goals through two tournament games and has enough attacking quality to create chances regardless of the opponent's approach. FC Cincinnati vs. Atlas Prediction
Cincinnati opened Leagues Cup with a 3-1 win over Pachuca before beating Pumas 2-0 on Friday. The Orange and Blue have therefore scored multiple goals in both Phase One appearances while conceding only once. Against Pumas, Pavel Bucha scored in first-half stoppage time before Mboma Dem finished the result in second-half stoppage time. That combination of patience and late-game production has allowed Cincinnati to punish opponents even when matches remain competitive for long periods.
Atlas has lost both of its first two Phase One matches, but its tournament opener demonstrated why completely dismissing its attack would be dangerous. The Liga MX side took a 1-0 lead against Columbus before eventually losing 3-1. Charlotte then shut Atlas out 2-0 on Friday, officially ending its hopes of advancing. With qualification no longer hanging over every possession, Atlas can play its final match with less reason to protect a conservative game state.
That dynamic makes the goal market more attractive than simply laying -210. Cincinnati should create enough chances to score at home, especially against an Atlas side that has conceded five times through two Phase One matches. The other half of the wager depends on Atlas contributing once, and the visitors have already proven capable of creating an early goal against Columbus. If Cincinnati pushes numbers forward in pursuit of a perfect Phase One record, transition opportunities should be available at the other end.
