The Lehecka performance was particularly impressive on a surface where oddsmakers had continued to question how quickly Jodar’s game would translate. He won 86% of his first-serve points and controlled the baseline throughout, then handled another dangerous opponent in Fils without needing a deciding set.
Nakashima is also playing his best tennis of the tournament at the right time. He survived consecutive three-set matches against Titouan Droguet and Arthur Rinderknech before producing his cleanest performance Tuesday, overpowering Luciano Darderi 6-2, 6-3 in just 77 minutes.
That serving ability is what makes Nakashima dangerous despite the wide moneyline. Jodar has been nearly untouchable since losing his first set of the tournament, but the opening set remains the point where he has looked most vulnerable.
