Chelsea travel to favourites Manchester City in the third round of the Carabao Cup as the remaining Premier League teams enter the competition.
The remaining seven Premier League clubs - including the holders Liverpool - enter the competition at the third round stage, joining the 25 winners from the second round.
Who are the favourites for the 2022/23 Carabao Cup?
Manchester City
Since the draw was made back in August, Manchester City’s odds to win the competition have remained at 3/1, as they look to claim their ninth title and equal Liverpool’s record. They host Chelsea in what promises to be a tough game compared to some of their biggest rivals, but City should still qualify for the next round.

Liverpool
Last year’s Carabao Cup winners Liverpool have had a mixed Premier League season, currently sitting in 8th position with one game remaining before the break for the World Cup.

As a result, their odds have drifted from 6/1 to 8/1 in places, but they are tipped by many to go far in the competition as they did last season. They have an easy third round tie at home to League One Derby County and are expected to qualify for the next round of the competition.
Arsenal
The current leaders of the Premier League Arsenal host Brighton in their third round tie on Wednesday. When the draw was made, they were a best priced 14/1 to win the Carabao Cup, but this has since shortened to a best price 12/1. Arsenal made it to the semi-finals last season, where they lost out to eventual winners Liverpool over two legs.
Chelsea
As for Chelsea, they also remain at their odds of 12/1 from when the draw was made. Initially, they had been 7/1 to go one better than in 2021/22 but a daunting trip to the Etihad has stretched out the price, as has their unconvincing Premier League form in recent weeks.

Should Chelsea be able to emerge victorious from their third round tie, their odds to win should shorten significantly, but for now they remain fourth favourites.
Tottenham
Just behind their London rivals, Tottenham are fifth favourites to win the Carabao Cup. The League Cup was the last trophy Tottenham got their hands on, all the way back in 2008, when they defeated Chelsea 2-1 in the final. They last reached the final in 2020/21, where they lost 1-0 to eventual winners Manchester City, and were knocked out to eventual runners up Chelsea last season.
They travel to struggling Nottingham Forest in the third round and are a best price of 14/1 to win their first major silverware in what would be almost 15 years.
Newcastle United
Newcastle have been flying this season in the Premier League, having only lost one game all season, and currently sit in third spot, which many people didn’t expect this early into their new regime.
They remain around their 16/1 best priced odds to win the competition, which is where they were when the third round draw was made back in August. They host Crystal Palace, a side who had a goalless draw with the Magpies at St James Park back in September.

However, Newcastle have won six of their last seven in the league, which includes a 2-1 win over Tottenham, beat Southampton 4-1 at the weekend, and should keep up their good form to qualify for the next round.
Newcastle went out to Burnley in the second round of last year’s competition, but this was prior to their Saudi takeover, and they are expecting much better this time round. They beat Tranmere Rovers 2-1 to reach the third round in August.
Manchester United
After suffering a 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa just last weekend, Manchester United (16/1) host the Villans at Old Trafford, looking to book their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
The five-time winners last triumph was in 2017, where they beat Southampton 3-2. Last season, Manchester United went out in the third round to West Ham, and Erik Ten Hag’s side will be hoping to go deeper into the competition this time round.
