Next Watford Manager Odds: Who are the favourites to succeed Tom Cleverley?

There is no clear favourite to replace Tom Cleverley as Watford manager.

After the conclusion of the 2024/25 Championship campaign, in which Watford finished 14th, the club have today relieved Tom Cleverley of his duties as head coach, after a little over a year at the helm.

Cleverley departs Vicarage Road with his managerial reputation on the rise, despite a difficult season at the club; his departure prompting a flurry of activity in the next Watford manager odds market.

Watford spent little on incomings last summer and the consensus among supporters was that Cleverley was overperforming with the resources available to him.

The Hornets were in and around the play-off places until Christmas, with form then dropping off until the end of the campaign - they took just one point from their last five matches to finish 11 points outside of the playoffs.

Who are the favourites to be the next Watford manager?

At the time of writing, Alberto Garrido, a first-team coach at Watford who arrived from Real Madrid last summer, is the early favourite to step into the hot seat at Vicarage Road, available at 5/1 with BetVictor.

In a cluttered market, Garrido is followed by former Bournemouth and Wolves manager Gary O’Neil at 5/1, and Sean Dyche, a former Watford player and manager, at 6/1.

The likes of former Wales boss Rob Page (8/1) and recently dismissed Norwich City coach Johannes Hoff Thorup (12/1) are also early contenders.

The Watford manager job has been a volatile position in recent years - Cleverley was the first head coach to remain in charge for an entire season since Javi Gracia in 2018-19.

Who will be next to take the reins at Vicarage Road?
