The 77-year-old Trump, who served as president from 2017 to 2021, is now evens with most bookmakers to win the 2024 US election later this year.
DeSantis dropping out ahead of the Republican primary election in New Hampshire leaves Nikki Haley (12/1) as Trump's remaining Republican challenger.
