Republican candidate set to win the Keystone State in the US Election
At the time of writing, Donald Trump is the favourite to take the win in Pennsylvania in his charge towards regaining the White House.
In 2020, Trump lost Pennsylvania by 82,000 votes to Joe Biden, a result that wasn't declared until after Biden had claimed victory of the US Election.
However, Trump won this state in 2016 by 44,292 against Hillary Clinton and although polls have Trump and Harris neck-and-neck, the bookmakers are backing Trump to claim the 19 ECVs. VBet are currently offering the best odds on Trump to win with Betway offering the best odds on Kamala Harris.

Why is Pennsylvania so Important for Trump and Harris?
Electoral College Votes from Keystone State could give Trump or Harris victory
Every state is allocated a certain number of Electoral College Votes, based on the number of Senators and House of Representatives each state has.
To win the US Election, Donald Trump or Kamala Harris must get to 270 Electoral College Votes, making the 19 in Pennsylvania a prized asset in getting to that figure.
Only four states hold more ECVs than Pennsylvania. The outcomes of New York, California, Texas and Florida all seem fairly set with Harris likely to claim the first two and Trump winning Texas and Florida.
This makes Pennsylvania the next biggest asset for any candidate. The state has backed the winner in the last four elections, with Erie County being the biggest bellwether voting area in the country, regularly backing the right horse.

When will the Pennsylvania Result Be Called?
Outcome between Trump and Harris could take days
In 2020, projections were made by the Associated Press that Joe Biden had won the state on the Saturday after the US Election.
While the election result is not expected to take that long in 2024, some fear it could still take days rather than hours for a winner to emerge.
This is because officials were not allowed to begin processing absentee ballots until 7am today.
The laborious process means workers must check that voters have provided all necessary information, then remove the ballots from the envelopes, ensure they haven’t been damaged and feed them into voting tabulators.
These votes can be challenged and must be rigorously checked, any issues and they cannot be counted.
All of this, plus the fact that millions of people will be casting their votes on the day, means that we could be waiting a while before this state is called. With the election expected to go to the wire, it all could hinge on Pennsylvania.
