Jake Paul Next Fight Odds: Is Floyd Mayweather Up Next for Paul?

Unless you're sleeping under a rock, you've heard of the potential Jake Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather fight and, more importantly, the potential Jake Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather odds that would follow. But, there are some difficulties in scheduling this one.

In his last fight, Jake Paul delivered a show-stopping KO via a right hook against former UFC champion Tyron Woodley. Now, Paul is still yet to fight anyone with any prior boxing experience, but the fashion in which he finishes fights makes him an easy draw in boxing.

As for Mayweather. The last time we saw him was in an exhibition match against Jake Paul's brother, Logan Paul, which ended in Mayweather declaring himself the winner despite no official winner being announced.

That is the biggest issue for Jake Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather. Mayweather is done fighting in real boxing matches. He likes his perfect 50-0-0 record, he has enough money to go retire and never have to worry and he's already considered the greatest fighter of his generation. So, why would he take a Jake Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather fight?

Jake Paul's Next Fight: Top 5 Most Likely Opponents

5. Canelo Alvarez

Let's get this out of the way. This fight is not happening next for Paul, or at least it shouldn't. But, ever since Paul put out his boxing bucket list, it's become impossible to ignore a potential Jake Paul vs. Canelo Alvarez fight. Here is the thing, no matter how much bigger Paul is than Canelo, the current pound-for-pound best fighter in the world would make the YouTuber look silly. Paul wouldn't take a single round and if he made it past the fourth round, I'd call it a win for him. But, there is an insane amount of money to be made on a fight like this. So, you never want to say never when that type of cash is involved.

4. Floyd Mayweather

I don't give this one much of a chance of happening. Like I said, Mayweather loves his 50-0-0 record, so I can't see him taking a sanctioned fight. On the other side of the ring, Paul is trying to build his reputation, so an exhibition fight without any official result doesn't really make sense for him. The one reason this fight makes this list is because of Mayweather's love for "legalized bank robbery", as he put it. This fight would bring in an insane amount of money for not only Paul but Mayweather. As for what the actual fight would look like, I'm not entirely sure we know. Most likely, Mayweather would look like a shadow of his prime self, but still, be a great enough tactician to dance around Paul and pick his shots.

3. Jorge Masvidal

This would be far and away the most entertaining fight possible. Masvidal is an elite striker in the UFC and, until his last fight against Kamaru Usman, he had never been KOd in the octagon. But, there are real hurdles for this one, even though I think it's the fight Paul wants the most. First and foremost, Masvidal is under contract with the UFC. Dana White isn't going to give Masvidal permission to pursue a boxing match that he wouldn't see any profit from, plus White and Paul have a notorious feud going on. But, even bigger than that is the disagreement between Paul and Masvidal about the fight. Masvidal wants to do it in the octagon where he can "slam" Paul. Meanwhile, Paul is trying to become a legitimate name in boxing, so taking a fight in any other discipline makes no sense for him.

2. Tommy Fury

Oh, what could have been for Tommy Fury. Fury was supposed to take on Paul this past weekend but was forced to withdraw due to sickness and injury. Here's the thing, it would so much sense for Paul to just pick this fight up as his next bout and go from there. But, he has a real rivalry with Fury and his entire family. I have a feeling Paul is going to make Fury earn another shot. I think he definitely fights Fury in the future, but I also think that he will have at least one other fight before he gives Tommy Fury another chance. For Fury, this is obviously the fight he wants next, he's even said as much, but I'm anticipating Paul making the entire Fury family sweat it out.

1. Anderson Silva

If Jake Paul is smart, he will stay as far away from this fight as humanly possible. Having said that, I think his ego may step in and Anderson Silva may be the next person to take on Paul. The issue for Paul is that Silva, unlike the rest of his opponents, isn't just some washed-up UFC star. Silva is one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time and perhaps the best striker to ever step foot in the octagon. Now, some may not think that would transfer to boxing, but Silva has already disproved that theory. Anderson Silva has already beaten Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a boxing match. Chavez Jr. is 53-6-1 and a former world champion. Silva has not only fought a boxer 10x better than anything Paul has faced, but he beat him. Anderson Silva, even at the age of 46, will beat Jake Paul. If I'm Paul, I'm running from this fight.
