Jiri Prochazka (29-4-1)

Like Jamahal Hill, Prochazka is a former light heavyweight champion who lost his belt due to injury, rather than competition. In his case, it was a devastating shoulder injury that he bounced back from at UFC 295 in November, losing to Pereira who was making his debut at light heavyweight. The fight also stopped a 13-fight win streak, with three of those wins coming in the UFC on his way to the belt. 

Aleksandar Rakic (14-3-0)

Rakic also comes into this fight following a recent injury, suffering a knee injury in May 2022 during his fight with Jan Blachowicz, causing him to lose that fight. Before that, in his last fight, Rakic had gone 6-1 with the UFC and looked destined to be next in line for a title shot of his own.

For me, Rakic coming straight back into the mix against a guy of Prochazka’s caliber is the exact mistake that Jiri made against Pereira. All things the same, I think these two are relatively equal, but Prochazka isn’t a guy who you can take anything less than 100% and I think we see Rakic pay that price in this one.
