The new week of college football brings another shakeup in the power rankings, but Ohio State remains steady at the top after delivering a dominant blowout win that reminded everyone why they’re the early title favorite. The Buckeyes flexed their depth and explosiveness on both sides of the ball, leaving little doubt about their place at No. 1 heading into a tougher stretch of the schedule.
Clemson, however, wasn’t as convincing. Despite surviving a scare against Troy, the Tigers looked flat and unpolished, leading to a drop in the rankings as questions linger about their offense’s ability to sustain drives against better competition. Meanwhile, Arizona State and Florida both suffered bad losses that knock them out of the Top 25 altogether, resetting expectations for teams that entered the season with high hopes.
The rankings may still be settling in the early weeks, but with marquee matchups ahead, the race for the top is already heating up and a clearer picture is beginning to form. Let's take a look at our complete College Football power rankings ahead of week 3.

College Football Power Rankings
1. Ohio State Buckeyes
The Ohio State Buckeyes plowed over Grambling State on Saturday, 70-0. They look dominant on both sides of the ball, and enjoyed flexing after taking down Texas in the first week in a low-scoring game. They take on a feisty Ohio Bobcats team next week.
2. Penn State Nittany Lions
Penn State hasn't really proved anything, but they haven't had to. They won their first two games by a combined 69 points, and have another cupcake this week against FCS Villanova before gearing up for a showdown with Oregon in a few weeks.
3. Oregon Ducks
Speaking of the Ducks, they are showcasing the offensive firepower again with a 69-3 win over Oklahoma State. As weak as the Cowboys may be, that's a massive beatdown against a Big 12 team, and this unit isn't playing around after falling short a year ago. They take on Northwestern this weekend in the Big Ten opener, favored by 27.5 on the road.
4. Georgia Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs didn't look as strong against Austin Peay this week, only winning 28-6. They beat Marshall by much more the previous week, but it only really matters if they continued to improve. They have a huge test against No. 15 Tennessee this week where we'll find out more.
5. Texas Longhorns
Texas played well enough against San Jose State, but they just need to keep getting reps for Arch Manning. The defense is staunch, and the talent on both sides of the ball is as good as it gets. They have two more tune-up games before the SEC schedule starts, and they'll hope to see solid improvement out of Arch before the end of September in decision making.
6. LSU Tigers
LSU looked solid but didn't dominate against Louisiana this weekend. They were probably hoping to see more firepower out of Garrett Nussmeier through two weeks, but the next test against Florida will prove how good they are. They host the Gators as -9.5 favorites this week.
7. Miami Hurricanes
Miami beat up on Bethune Cookman by 42 points, as expected. They now turn to the newly-ranked South Florida Bulls, which originally should have been a cupcake game. Despite being 16-point favorites, the pressure is now on Carson Beck and the Canes to stop the USF winning streak.
8. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
No movement here, the Irish were on a bye and will look to rebound from their opening loss against Miami when they host Texas A&M this weekend as -6.5 favorites.
9. South Carolina Gamecocks
10. Illinois Fighting Illini
11. Florida State Seminoles
12. Oklahoma Sooners
13. Iowa State Cyclones
14. Tennessee Volunteers
15. Ole Miss Rebels
16. Texas A&M Aggies
17. Alabama Crimson Tide
18. Clemson Tigers
Clemson may be No. 12 in the latest AP poll, but we're dropping them much further here. The offense has been mediocre at best, a far cry from where it should be under veteran Cade Klubnik. After losing to LSU in Week 1, they had to scratch and claw on their home field again just to get past the Troy Trojans, trailing by double digits at half.
19. South Florida Bulls
USF may not really be a Top 25 team in the country, but they are moving up the power rankings based on body of work. They took out two ranked teams in No. 25 Boise State and No. 15 Florida in their first two games, leading them into the Top 20. They have one more game in the gauntlet, taking on No. 5 Miami on Saturday. They are a +16 underdog, but it hasn't stopped them so far.
20. Utah Utes
21. Texas Tech Red Raiders
22. Indiana Hoosiers
23. Missouri Tigers
Mizzou came back from an early 15-point deficit against rival Kansas in the Border War on Saturday to ultimately win by 11 points. Penn State transfer QB Beau Pribula has been one of the most accurate quarterback in the nation through two weeks with 79% completion percentage, and the Tigers are starting to put things together on offense.
24. Michigan Wolverines
Freshman QB Bryce Underwood struggled against the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, completing just nine of his 24 passes in a 24-13 loss. Michigan has a lot to figure out offensively if they are going to find success in the Big Ten schedule.
25. Auburn Tigers

Dropped out of Rankings
- Florida Gators
The Gators laid an egg at home as 17.5-point favorites, falling to the USF Bulls by two points. DJ Lagway couldn't get it going on offense, and it won't get any easier as they travel to Death Valley to face LSU this week.
- Arizona State Sun Devils
Kenny Dillingham's team was probably ranked a bit high to start the season, and they were humbled at the hands of Mississippi State in Starkville this weekend. ASU came in as a 6-point road favorite and ranked No. 12, but went down early and couldn't get the job done despite a comeback attempt. They drop out of the rankings with an early season loss.
