Super Bowl Odds: Are The Patriots the Best Value Play?
Super Bowl Odds: Are The Patriots the Best Value Play?
After Tom Brady took his talents to Tampa Bay, it appeared that it would be a tough go of it for New England for a few years. Well, after just one “bad” year (a lot of teams would sign up for 7-9 being a disaster) the Patriots are back sitting at 9-4 through 13 games. It didn’t always start that way though.
After the first six weeks of the season, they were sitting at 2-4 and looked like a team with a pretty solid defense and a young quarterback who would be up and down. Well, they’ve since rattled off seven in a row and now find themselves not only at top of the AFC East, in familiar territory, but at the top of the AFC as the one seed.
What Bill Belichick was able to do this past week in today’s NFL was downright insane. His quarterback attempted three passes and they still won 14-10. They’re playing out of their mind defense and are just pummeling teams. Since this win streak started back they’ve allowed an opponent to go over 20 points just one time.
Mac Jones is even playing himself into the Rookie of the Year conversation after it looking like Ja’Marr Chase would be the sure thing for most of the year. With games left against the Colts, Bills again, Jaguars, and Dolphins there is a legit chance at this team winning out and going 13-4.
Yet somehow, they’re being slept on. At +800 odds, they have just the fifth-best chance of winning the Super Bowl this year. Sure, the four teams in front are all from the NFC except Kansas City but even still with Kansas City’s struggles why are they the second favorite to win it all?
Regardless, the story of Bill Belichick taking his team from a +3700 to win the Super Bowl up to +800 is impressive in itself. The Patriots might not be going anywhere after all.
