Denver Broncos Fire Vic Fangio After 3 Seasons
Well, we have our first casualty of the day. Normally, Black Monday is the day when we see NFL coaches get fired but with the Denver Broncos ending their season last night, finishing 7-10 after falling to the Kansas City Chiefs, Vic Fangio is out.
In his three seasons as Head Coach of the Broncos, he went 19-30 for just a .388 win percentage. With the roster talent on that team, the expectation was higher for them this year despite the below-average play at quarterback from both Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock.
Don't expect Fangio to be out of a job for long though as he's one of the most well-respected defensive coordinators in the league. He was the mastermind behind the San Francisco 49ers defense during the Jim Harbaugh era and was also DC of the Chicago Bears before he landed this gig in Denver.
He's had a top 10 defense eight times in his career as both a head coach and coordinator and has been in the league since 1995 making stops in Carolina, Indianapolis, Houston, San Francisco, Chicago, and Denver.
The Broncos will begin their search immediately and look for someone who can get this team back to the playoffs. They have not reached the playoffs since they won the Super Bowl back in 2015.
