Bills Betting Preview

The Buffalo Bills are through to the divisional round for a second straight season after overcoming the New England Patriots last weekend. The game wasn’t even competitive as the Bills took control right from the word go.

The Bills looked nigh unstoppable in the 47-17 victory. Predominantly, it was an offensive delight with Allen passing for five touchdowns and rushing for a score. However, the momentum-changing moment that set the tone for the rest of the game came with Micah Hyde’s endzone interception in the first quarter. It seemed to rattle rookie quarterback Mac Jones because he wasn’t the same from that point onwards, and the Patriots crumbled like a deck of cards.

In winning, the Bills appear to have silenced their critics after an inconsistent season that saw Allen alternative between MVP caliber play and Mr. Butterfingers. And how they won seems to be giving many NFL bettors the belief that, this time, things will be different between the Bills and the Chiefs in the playoffs.

Chiefs Betting Preview

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a comprehensive 42-21 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, an outcome that was never really in doubt as the Chiefs closed as the double-digit favorites on the NFL odds board.

The Chiefs offense, which was MIA for the better part of the season, erupted into an offensive delight. Mahomes had one of his best passing performances of the season as he tossed for over 400 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception. Travis Kelce hurled the sixth touchdown to cap the Chiefs’ stellar offensive account. Running back Jerick McKinnon, covering for Clyde Edwards-Helaire, finished with 61 rushing yards, 81 receiving yards, and a touchdown.

In winning, the Chiefs delivered on expectations. While the manner of victory is seen as a source of encouragement and a sign that the Chiefs have found their mojo again.

Buffalo Bills vs Kansas City Chiefs Odds

The market on this game has seen the most movement on the NFL odds board since bookmakers put up the odds for the Division Round. The Chiefs opened as the 2.5 point favorites, but in an instant, the line dropped to Chiefs -2. As the week progressed, the trend against Kansas City persisted, prompting further drops in the market. As things currently stand, some shops are offering the Chiefs at -1.5 while others have gone down as low as Chiefs -1.

Buffalo Bills vs Kansas City Chiefs Predictions and Picks

If the Bills and Chiefs live up to the hype and expectations, then this should be a right-cracking showdown. It’s why the NFL scheduled the game for Sunday Night Football – as the marquee matchup to bring down the curtain on the second round of the playoffs.

One can wax lyrical about both teams, their high-octane offense, and respectable defenses. One can draw parallels and comparisons between Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes and talk up the X-factor that both gunslingers bring to the game. All this amounts to splitting hairs, which is probably why the market for this game is so tight.

As things currently stand, the Chiefs are the value bet on the point spread at -1. Basically, bettors are getting a point spread that is well below the opening line and that makes it a steal play for NFL picks. Of course, for those looking to bet the Bills, a bet on the moneyline right now offers better angles for profit than the nominal 1-point spread.

Whichever way one slices this game, it’s likely to be a close contest between two teams that deserve to be in the playoffs. May the best team win.

Picks: Chiefs -1 (-120) (Bet $120 to win $100)
