Chicago Bears vs. San Francisco 49ers Odds, Spread: 75% of Bets on Bears to Upset the 49ers in Week 1
Bettors predict that Week 1’s biggest upset will come in Chicago. As the Bears, who are +7 to win their opening week matchup, are the heavy betting favorite to get the victory.
Chicago Bears vs. San Francisco 49ers Week 1 Odds
Over the last 7 days, the Bears have seen 75% of bets placed on them to win in Week 1. Meanwhile, the 49ers have seen just 25% of bets placed on them. This is in stark contrast to their odds, which sees the 49ers given -295 odds or an implied 74.7% chance to get the victory, while the Bears are given +260 odds or an implied 27.8% chance.
If the Bears get the victory as a seven point underdog or worse since, Week 15 in 2020 when the Bears upset the Vikings on the road. It would also be the first time the 49ers have lost a game they were favored to win by at least seven points since Week 5 of 2020 when the 49ers lost in a blow out against the Dolphins in a game they were favored to win by nine.
This is an interesting matchup. It’s a matchup of two young quarterbacks on teams going in vastly different directions. Yet, if you have belief that Justin Field is a better quarterback than Trey Lance you can have hope in this one. There’s just such a small sample size with Trey Lance at this point that bettors just don’t feel comfortable putting money on the 49ers on the road. Lance may very well grow into his own this season and become a star, it’s just a question of whether or not he’ll be ready for Week 1. Bettors aren’t buying it, so they’re backing Fields and the Bears.
