Through seven weeks, the NFL has looked more balanced than it has in quite some time. We were just treated to an exciting matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.
Josh Allen and the Bills were able to escape Kansas City with a win, likely helping Allen and his MVP odds moving forward. Although Allen is the favorite to win the award, are there other players who can catch up before the regular season concludes?
Here's a look at the NFL MVP odds and betting via BetMGM, including the ticket percentage and handle percentage for the MVP candidates.

The NFL MVP is currently a race between Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes, and Lamar Jackson. Russell Wilson was the third-highest-bet player to win the MVP award before the season. He has 10.6% of tickets to win the MVP with 6.6% of the money.
The public lost those tickets and money quickly. However, players like Jalen Hurts got 4.6% of the handle. He's now second on the MVP list, slightly behind Josh Allen. The MVP is likely going to stay a four-man race. Mahomes' value has dropped, which is suitable for bettors who already grabbed him before the season.
Meanwhile, Lamar Jackson went from +2200 to +800 at BetMGM. Those odds were interesting, to begin with, knowing that Jackson had already won an MVP in his career.
Can Any Player Out of the Top 4 Make the MVP Race Interesting?
First off, you've got to win ball games to have a chance at earning the MVP. That's just how these types of awards go.
The Vikings are currently 5-1 on the season with Kirk Cousins at quarterback. I'd be stunned if Cousins beat Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, and Lamar Jackson for the award. But he's thrown for over 250 yards per game and has nine touchdown passes. He'll have to eliminate the interceptions in the second half of the season. But he's still someone that will be on my radar to win the MVP award.
Cousins has the best odds at PointsBet, at +5000, while BetMGM has him at +4000 to win the MVP. Cousins has been helped by Justin Jefferson, who has +10000 odds to win the MVP at FanDuel. Cooper Kupp is another non-quarterback that has put up sensational numbers this season. But he's also sitting at +15000 to win the MVP at FanDuel.
It's a quarterback award, after all. I don't think any quarterback has a chance outside the Top four, if we're honest with ourselves.
