Lamar Jackson Next Team Odds
Reports have been flying about teams pulling out of the Lamar Jackson sweepstakes before it’s even started. Well, the books aren’t buying any of them. One of those teams that are reportedly out, the Atlanta Falcons, are the early favorites to land Lamar.
The Falcons are given +300 odds, or an implied 25% chance to land the former MVP. They’re followed by the Jets and Panthers, who are tied with +400 odds or an implied 20% chance. In total, nine teams are given at least a 10% chance to land Jackson.
There are a few interesting teams among them. The 49ers are given +900 odds, or an implied 10% chance to land Lamar, despite the presence of Trey Lance and Brock Purdy. The Buccaneers are given +800 odds, or an implied 11.1% chance to replace Tom Brady with Lamar Jackson.
Perhaps the most intriguing, though, is the idea of Lamar returning home. The south Florida kid is given +500 odds, or an implied 16.7% chance to head down to Miami and play for his hometown Dolphins. Given the injuries that Tua has had to deal with, perhaps Miami will turn elsewhere. He played good football for Miami when healthy this season, but this is Lamar Jackson at the end of the day.
Lamar's next team odds could shake up as more reports come out. While many of the early reports have stated that a team isn't interested in him, it almost seems impossible for a team not to want Lamar Jackson.
Things weren’t supposed to get this far. Lamar Jackson was not supposed to be able to negotiate with other teams. Yet, here they are. Lamar is essentially a free agent with a two-first-round pick price tag attached. MVPs in their prime never hit the market. This is a once-in-a-generation free agent, and the books don’t believe that teams would dismiss the idea of making a move for a franchise-altering player so quickly. So, for now, the Falcons remain out in front as the favorites. Only time will tell if that stays true.
