There were a lot of changes to this week's edition of the NFL Power Rankings. The New York Giants went from signing their franchise quarterback to considering tanking for USC prospect Caleb Williams. But they're not the only team with those thoughts in mind. Here are the NFL Power Rankings for Week 5.
2023 NFL Power Rankings
1. San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers are still the best team in the NFL. Nothing changed at the top of the rankings this week after a win against the Cardinals, 35-16.
2. Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia escaped the Washington Commanders at home for another close, tight win. It hasn't been the prettiest of seasons. But the Eagles are undefeated. That's all that matters in the end.
3. Buffalo Bills
Buffalo took it to Miami last weekend with a 48-20 win against the Dolphins. Everyone was discussing Miami's offense and started forgetting what the Bills have. They came out with a purpose against the Dolphins.
4. Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes played one of the worst games in his career against the Jets. But he still found a way to finish the job late in the fourth quarter. The GOAT.
5. Miami Dolphins
Miami fell a few spots down the rankings. But there's still so much to be excited about with the Dolphins moving forward. They'll need to get Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle more involved in the offense this weekend.
6. Detroit Lions
The Lions earned a solid win over the Packers. They're certainly a playoff team. But it's looking like Sam LaPorta should've been drafted before Jahmyr Gibbs based on usage in the NFL Draft. When will the Lions allow Gibbs to shine?
7. Dallas Cowboys
After a brutal loss to the Cardinals in Week 3, the Cowboys took care of business against the Patriots, giving Bill Belichick his worst margin of defeat of his career.
8. Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore earned a 28-3 win over the Browns, with Dorian Thompson-Robinson at quarterback for Cleveland. Nothing to see here. But at least they got the job done.
9. Seattle Seahawks
Seattle's convincing win against the Giants keeps them in the Top 10. Geno Smith seems to be healthy and fine, which is crucial.
10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay's got some new confidence with Baker Mayfield under center. Mayfield isn't a top quarterback in the league. But he'll have you believing whenever he's on the field.
11. Jacksonville Jaguars
12. Washington Commanders
13.Los Angeles Chargers
14. Houston Texans
Did anyone think the Houston Texans would crack the top 15? C.J. Stroud is rolling with DeMeco Ryans as head coach. Houston has been stellar recently.
15. Indianapolis Colts
16. Atlanta Falcons
17. Tennessee Titans
18. Green Bay Packers
If Green Bay can get healthy offensively, the offense can really start to put together consistent drives. Hopefully, Aaron Jones is a full go this weekend.
19. Cleveland Browns
20. New England Patriots
21. New York Jets
The Jets are coming around. After Zach Wilson played a career game, the Jets are back in the high 20s. This team can still make the playoffs.
22. New Orleans Saints
23. Los Angeles Rams
24. Minnesota Vikings
25. Arizona Cardinals
Arizona is ranked the highest this season, even after a brutal loss to the 49ers.
26. Cincinnati Bengals
27. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh offense is absolutely horrendous right now.
28. Las Vegas Raiders
29. New York Giants
30. Carolina Panthers
31. Denver Broncos
32. Chicago Bears
