Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New Orleans Saints Odds: Saints Given 55% Chance to Win on TNF

The Jacksonville Jaguars will travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints on a short week for Thursday Night Football.

Trevor Lawrence comes into the matchup as the key to watch, still listed as questionable with a knee sprain. If he is unable to go, the odds could drastically change, but Lawrence is tentatively expected to play despite the limited rest and recovery.

Derek Carr and the Saints will look to put up enough points and rely on their defense to get after the banged-up Lawrence in the pocket. This game arrives with a low total and a renewed focus on two of the league's better defensive units.

Let's take a look at the listed odds, and how they have changed the implied probability with the injury news.

Jaguars vs. Saints Odds

The New Orleans Saints are holding on as slight favorites in the current odds, 12 hours before the game.

The odds have been bouncing around this week, as Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence remains questionable with a knee sprain. The line moved as far as Saints -3 on Monday before settling back down at -1. But it continued to gain steam, and has landed at Saints -2 on Thursday morning.

The big question remains that if Lawrence is ruled active on Thursday afternoon, will the odds flip to Jaguars as a favorite? It is plausible, but the injury is largely priced into the line at this point.

More likely than not, Lawrence will suit up and give it a go, but it is unknown how well he will be able to move in the pocket. The latest news has placed him as a game-time decision, giving him a 50-50 shot to take the field.

For now, the Jaguars are hovering around a 48% chance to get a road victory according to the current odds. They are coming off of a double-digit beatdown of the Colts that brought their win streak to three straight. Lawrence would like to extend that if he is able to go, but will be banged up against a staunch Saints defense.

That defense is a major reason why the Saints have an implied 55% chance to win. They have the sixth best scoring defense in the NFL, allowing just 16 points per game. They will be bringing the heat up front to try and forced the hobbled opposing QB out of the pocket often.

Home field advantage will also be crucial on this short week, as the Jags have had limited time to recover from their injuries and travel. Without Lawrence, this game will be a tough watch, and drastically increase the Saints' probability of victory as they attack an inexperienced backup with a top defensive unit.
