The Pittsburgh Steelers outperformed expectations in 2024, and will have to do it again in 2025 with many doubters rooting against them. No one expected the Justin Fields/Russell Wilson combination to work out last season, and ultimately it fell short in the playoffs, but it found a way to get them there. Fields was serviceable in the first part of the season, and Russell Wilson was solid in the middle before falling apart near the end.
Steelers fans have a salty taste left in their mouth as they watched their team lose all five of their final games, including a wild card defeat by double digits at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens. They had a promising thing going before the wheels fell off, and are hoping it doesn't linger this year.
It's anyone's guess how this 2025 season will go, with all new pieces on offense and a total lack of continuity. Fields and Wilson are both gone to New York, and Aaron Rodgers comes back on a swap of sorts. The 41-year-old former star QB will try to pick up the pieces in Pittsburgh and lead them back to the postseason with a different result. He's got DK Metcalf instead of George Pickens, but will get a lot of help from T.J. Watt and a stacked defense. Can Rodgers and the offense steer this ship back to the NFL playoffs, or will they crash and burn like his time at the Jets? Let's take a look at the Pittsburgh Steelers win totals, playoff odds, and more props for the 2025 season.

Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Odds
The Pittsburgh Steelers are not arriving to the 2025 season with the same delusion of Jets fans over the last two years, who all thought an aging Aaron Rodgers would lead them to the Super Bowl. While there were glimmers of hope at times, especially with a great defense, it was shattered apart pretty rapidly in both seasons.
We see the Steelers here with +5500 odds to win the Super Bowl, and it's just not happening outside of an Aaron Rodgers miracle where he turns the clock back 10 years. They can definitely be a competitive team, which we explain below as they fight to get over the 8.5 win total and make the playoffs at +125 odds. Those will be the real measures of success for this team.

Pittsburgh Steelers Win Total Odds
Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers have been the model of consistency in the NFL. They haven't had a losing season since 2003, and Tomlin was hired in 2007, so most of the wins are attributed to him. But the problem in Pittsburgh is that they aren't achieving any major feats, they just are winning slightly more than they are losing.
They haven't won a playoff game since the 2016 season, despite making the postseason five times since. It has been a lot of early exits in the wild card/divisional round, and most of the seasons end up at 10-7, 9-8, or something similar. Now, we see them with the win total of 8.5 with Rodgers at the helm, perfectly targeting another 9-8 season. The books know Mike Tomlin gets a lot out of his defense, part of the reason why they have been able to hang around with many mediocre offenses on their sideline. Whether or not they can outperform their typical 8.5 is up to Rodgers outplaying the expectations with a whole new cast of teammates. It's hard to hinge a full season win total on a 41 year old, recently injured quarterback, especially in the NFC North.

Pittsburgh Steelers Odds To Make the Playoffs
The Steelers waited all offseason for Rodgers, refusing to use a high draft pick on a quarterback, and were basically left praying that he would take the starting job at some point this summer. Luckily, he came through for them, but joined so late that he's spent most of his time trying to develop chemistry with the new wide receiver corps. DK Metcalf joins the squad from Seattle, and George Pickens was promptly shipped off to Dallas.
The Steelers will be once again carried by T.J. Watt and the defense, so it comes down to Rodgers and his savvy veteran experience if they want to make the playoffs. They are one of the closest teams on the bubble here at +125 odds to make it, and -150 to miss it.
They open the season against the Jets, Seahawks, Patriots, Vikings, and Browns, some of the most winnable games on their schedule. They are already favored by -3 over the Jets on the road, -2.5 over Seahawks at home, +1.5 vs. the Patriots and Vikings in Weeks 3 and 4 (which could easily flip), and -6.5 over the Browns in Week 5. That initial stretch will decide the destiny of their season, and it could very easily be 1-4 or 4-1. Their playoff odds will drastically change if they come out victorious in these early matchups, because it will just become don't lose every other game after that.

Pittsburgh Steelers AFC North Division Odds
The Steelers are probably not going to win the AFC North, but they have a much better chance than the Cleveland Browns do. We see the Steelers here with best odds of +550, with the Browns way back at +4000. So it'll be a three-team race, but more likely focusing on the Ravens and Bengals unless Rodgers surprises everyone. Pittsburgh would have to upset each of their rivals early on to get ahead in this race, otherwise it'll be a steep uphill climb all season. They have a better chance of sneaking in the playoffs through a wildcard appearance.
