The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies play this afternoon after their game got postponed yesterday. Can Trea Turner hold his own against Spencer Strider? The Professor answers.
ANALYSIS

Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction: Can Trea Turner Hold His Own Against Spencer Strider?

The Philadelphia Phillies host the Atlanta Braves for their first game of the season after yesterday’s game was postponed. The player prop I’m targeting in this matchup is U1.5 strikeouts for Trea Turner. With Spencer Strider on the mound, taking the under on an opposing hitter’s punch outs probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind but Turner has done a great job at putting the ball in play when facing Strider.

Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction

Turner has 21 career plate appearances against Strider and has only struck out two times. Both of those strikeouts were back in 2022 when Turner was a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2023, Turner registered 12 plate appearances against Strider and didn’t strikeout in any of them.

Last season, Turner finished with U1.5 strikeouts in 73% of his games when facing at right-handed pitchers and that percentage increased to 79% when the Phillies played at home.

With the head to head sample size and hit rates from last season I’m confident backing Turner to put the ball in play today even against an elite strikeout pitcher.
