This is a bet that makes too much sense. Jose Quintana only threw 77 pitches in his opening start last year and I don’t see a need to push him too far here. Game 1 of the season always features rested bullpens and managers like to slowly progress their pitchers counts as the year progresses.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. New York Mets Prediction

Quintana had a rough spring training which helps our bet as well. If the Brewers bats get hot this could hit absolutely sweat free. We could also win with Milwaukee just running up his pitch count. The Brewers were the only team last year to average over four pitches per plate appearance.

Quintana has failed to go into the sixth inning in the last five games against Milwaukee. This is obviously a slightly different team but lots of the people he will face are usual suspects. The team bats over .280 against him as well which helps. There’s so many routes to winning this one, let's hope five innings is the most he goes. Let's roll!
