I like Pete Alonso in today's matchup with the Dodgers to rack up some RBIs. It's not the perfect matchup for Pete but also not a bad one. I expect the opportunity for RBIs to be there and think the odds are too long. See my reasoning below as to why I like this ladder play.
- Pete Alonso has 1+ RBI in six of the last ten games at Dodger Stadium (2+ in three of ten)
- 500 AVG/.313 ISO against right-handed pitchers since April 9th
- The Mets rank 24th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitchers
- The Mets rank fourth in walk rate against right-handed pitchers
- The Mets rank 11th in on base percentage against right-handed pitchers
I think the Mets should be able to get some baserunners in this spot and Pete should have multiple RBI chances against Yoshinobu Yamamoto and the Dodgers.
Yamamoto ranks in the sixth percentile in barrel percentage and third percentile in hard hit percentage which is great for Pete who ranks in the 82nd percentile in barrel percentage this season. Yamamoto also has a 3.86 home runs/9 against right-handed batters at home so far this season. Additionally, the Dodgers bullpen have allowed the third most home runs (13) this season.
