Well we are coming off of one of the most boring weeks of the year in regard to professional sports, but we are finally back to it with the second half of the MLB season underway tonight, and I am ready to get after it on the diamond. To kick things off, I want to head to Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia as the St. Louis Cardinals (50-46) visit the Atlanta Braves (53-42) for the second meeting between the two squads this season. St. Louis took the first series 2-1 at home and will look to improve to 3-1 on the season series tonight. On the flip side, Atlanta hopes to tie up the season series in their first chance at revenge over the Birds.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction
Both squads need to win right now in crucial divisional races. St. Louis is second to Milwaukee and only four and a half games out of first but the Pirates, Reds and Cubs are all within three games of taking second place. The NL Central is a track race this season and no one is out of it. On the flip side, Atlanta is 8.5 games out of first behind a surging Phillies team and the Mets are nipping at their heels just four games back. Both squads have playoff aspirations and need to finish the season strong to get there but tonight, I am leaning towards the Birds.
Sonny Gray was snubbed from the All-Star Game but has had plenty of rest and throws well against the Braves; they are slashing just .222/.260/.353 against him in 99 at bats. On the flip side, Spencer Schwellenbach is not the Braves ace whatsoever, and the birds are slashing .400/.400/.450 against him. The value is on St. Louis tonight.
