For the past couple of years, the Atlanta Braves have been a powerhouse in the National League. This season, without some of their key players who they’ve lost to injury, the vibes feel different around this team. After two straight losses, the Braves are now only ten games over .500. It’s been a while since this team was only ten games over .500 at this point of the season…
Cincinnati just got embarrassed by the Nationals in their last series. I’m willing to bet they show up a little more fired up than usual against the Braves in the first game of this series on Monday, especially with Hunter Greene on the mound. He recently struggled in the All-Star Game, giving up a home run and two runs in just one inning. I like this bounce-back angle for not only the Reds coming off a sweep, but for Hunter Greene after getting embarrassed in the national spotlight.
Reynaldo Lopez will be starting for the Braves on Monday. He has been one of the best starting pitchers in baseball, but how long can that last? Nobody expected Lopez to be leading baseball with the lowest ERA of any starting pitcher, and I want to sell-high on the veteran right-hander. Expect a little more energy from the Reds’ lineup on Monday after an embarrassing sweep in Washington.
