Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Houston Astros Prediction
Framber Valdez didn’t have the best start to the season, but he’s been great for the majority of the summer. He won’t have the easiest assignment tonight against the Dodgers, but let’s not act like Los Angeles’ schedule has been tough post-All Star Break. Their record has been great, but their opponents have not been formidable. Although the Astros have lost some games coming out of the break, they’ve been playing their best ball of the season in recent weeks.
Gavin Stone will be making the start tonight for the Dodgers, and he’s been hittable of late. He’s given up a combined 26 hits over his last 4 starts. If the Astros are able to get to the young right-hander early, I trust Framber to limit the Dodgers offensive success. Besides Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani (who are two of the best players in baseball), who else in the Dodgers lineup has performed consistently well? Besides Teoscar Hernandez, there haven’t been enough role players stepping up…
The way the Astros lineup is trending at the plate, I like their chances of outperforming this overrated Dodgers team. Los Angeles has a similar problem as the Yankees do, their bullpen has struggled of late and their lineup is too reliant on the top of the order. The Astros have much more offensive depth, and in a primetime game on Friday night, that’s the side I want to back. It’s only a matter of time before they get to Gavin Stone, who seems to be regressing as the season goes on.
The Astros opened up at a Pick ‘Em, but have since been steamed up to (-130) most places. Back the Astros at home on the moneyline before the odds get any worse. I’ll meet you at the cash counter after another Framber Valdez masterclass.
