The Yankees and Angels close out a three game series tonight from Yankee Stadium after a doubleheader yesterday. The Angels and Yankees each split for a game a piece yesterday and will be playing in a rubber match in the series closer tonight.

Los Angeles Angels vs. New York Yankees Prediction
The Los Angeles Angels have been doing a little bit better over the last month or so and now sit at 50–64, which is still fourth place in the AL West, but they have an outside chance of getting a wild card if they can get hot to end the season.
On the other side, the Yankees put an end their skid recently and now sit at 68–47, which is tied for first place in the AL East with the Baltimore Orioles. If the Orioles lost tonight, and the Yankees were able to win this game, they would take sole first place in the division. Taking the mound first tonight will be Nestor Cortes for the New York Yankees. Cortes has been struggling over the last month but has a nice chance to come out and get another quality start on his record. Cortes has been pitching way better at home this year, as he has a 2.48 ERA at home and a 6.08 ERA on the road. He has only allowed .207 opponent batting average at home and a much higher .301 opponent batting average on the road this year.
Tonight, he will be pitch against the Angels, who have been struggling against left-handed pitching over the last 30 days. They are 19th in baseball with a .237 batting average against left-handed pitching and just a .626 OPS, which is 28th. Starting first for the Angels tonight will be left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson. Anderson has been one of the best pitcher for the Angels this season and has been their ace. He has a 3.05 ERA, which is 11th in baseball this year. He has also been lights out on the road, as he has a 1.84 ERA on the road this year.
Tonight, he pitches against the Yankees, who are 24th in baseball with a .221 banning average against left-handed pitching over the last 30 days. Anderson has not seen the Yankees too much, but in 66 at bats against the current roster, the Yankees have hit just .197 off Anderson.
With both teams struggling against left-handed pitching this season and two excellent left-handed starters on the mound, I think the offense will be very slow to start in this game. I won’t be surprised if this is a pitcher duel down to the wire and we got a very low scoring 3–2 type game. therefore, under 8.5 runs is the play in this game.
